Performer Bios (In order of appearance):
Hannah Smith (Usherette/Ensemble) Hannah is 23 years old and has wanted nothing more in the world than to perform on stage. Her first show at the Old Town Playhouse was Fiddler on The Roof and then Legally Blonde as a sorority girl. Her break out role was in Les Miserables as the struggling street rat, Eponine. Once Shrek was announced as one of the new productions in the 2014-2015 season she KNEW she had to audition. Dragon was the role for her. During the day she works at Long Lake Elementary as a Teachers Assistant, while going to school for her teaching degree. She is happy to have finally found her career path with kids. She has loved working with Brett in the past and was elated to receive his invitation to perform in this production. Thanks to her family and friends for always supporting her loud singing and crazy ways.
Nick Viox (Brad) Nick Viox is a Rocky Virgin and thrilled to be the "asshole" of this production! Nick has recently been cast in the 2015 Old Town Playhouse Gala and Shrek: the Musical. He would like to dedicate this performance to his spirit animal (you know who you are) as well as to anybody who will buy him a drink after the show!
Danielle Pelshaw (Janet) Danielle is absolutely thrilled and shivering with antici.......PATION to be playing Janet, whom she feels is her spirit animal. You may have seen Danielle in "SHREK, The Musical," "The Sound of Music," and "Les Miserables" at the Old Town Playhouse, as well as in the last two Black and White Gala casts. You may NOT have seen her working backstage for last year's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and at the State Theater for this year's Traverse City Film Festival. She loves singing (duh), dancing (the Time Warp), dinosaurs (all species), donuts (all species), and the undying support of her family, friends, cast mates, and coworkers...who, with you awesome RHS lovers, will be seeing her in her underpants! Have fun, sing, dance, yell, throw things, rock those fishnets, and enjoy our show!
Phil Murphy (Narrator) has worked in theatre for more than 45 years. He has appeared on stage throughout the East Coast and Midwest; most often here in Traverse City (the Best Coast). Audiences may remember his more recent leading performances in Fiddler on the Roof and The Producers on stage at the Old Town Playhouse where, in addition to performing and directing, he has served as Executive Director for the past 10 years. He was one of four founding members and first president of the Traverse City Children's Theatre (now the OTP Young Company). Murphy will be directing the play ‘night Mother in April 2016 as part of OTP’s Studio Season.
jc (Riff-Raff) jc has been involved in theater since jr high. Most recently at the the Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City. Some of his favorite roles have been: Launcelot Gabo-the fool, in "The Merchant of Venice", Harold Nichols in "The Full Monty" and Riff Raff in "The Rocky Horror Show" 2006. jc lives in the Kazoo area and works as a ship captain on the Great Lakes. He would like to thank his beautiful wife Jane for all of her support and indulgence.
Kate Cosentino (Magenta) is thrilled to be working with Elevated Arts for this production of The Rocky Horror Show! Magenta is a "bucket list" role! Kate has been immersed in all things theatrical from a young age and enjoys singing, acting and dancing as much as producing, stage managing, and make-up design. Locally, she has been involved onstage or backstage with Berocratic Productions, Elevated Arts, Fleur Couture Cabaret, and the Old Town Playhouse. When not at rehearsals, you can find her working at Golden Shoes in beautiful Downtown Traverse City, or perhaps designing and developing websites for Traverse City Web Design. She would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support of her always-on-the-move lifestyle. Live Laff Love!
Lesley Tye (Columbia) Lesley loves playing Columbia so much this is her fourth time donning the role. Other favorite productions include Little Dog Laughed, Rent, The Producers, Cabaret, Sweet Charity, Hair, Romeo and Juliet, and Henry V:Masters of War. Originally from Colorado, she moved here from Los Angeles where she worked in “the biz,” and now teaches screenwriting and film at Interlochen Center for the Arts. Lesley also writes, directs and produces Mash-Up Rock ‘n Roll Musicals with her hubby (and musical director) Tony Bero; their previous shows were How Grinchy Met the Who and Grimm’s Alternative Fairytales (stay tuned for their next one coming in the spring!). Her creative endeavors are supported by the letters B, C, D, M, N, T & V.
Brett Nichols (Frank-n-Furter) Brett can’t seem to resist the fishnets and corset! Eh, why fight it? He is excited to be bringing the good doctor back to Traverse City, after having played Dr. Frank-Furter in the 2006 Old Town Playhouse production of the Rocky Horror Show, and again in 2012 at the City Opera House. Other credits include RENT, CATS, Urinetown, The Full Monty and Les Miserables, among others. Brett is a Realtor with Re/Max Bayshore Properties and Co-Owns Elevated Arts with his wife, Kristina. “Don’t Dream It, Be It!”
Derek Woodruff (Rocky) Derek joins the cast of the Rocky Horror show for the second time, reprising his role as Rocky, which means he doesn't get to have beer and nachos for quite a while. Derek's career in the "real world" is a competitor, designer, educator and entertainer within the Floral Industry. He works for a local flower shop, Darling Botanical Co., and represents himself on a national level through his own business, Floral Underground. Derek enjoys any time he can get in the lime light, wether its through local theater and dance productions, national floral shows, floral design webisodes or even being on television (The Arrangement - LOGO TV).
David Curtis (Eddie/Dr. Scott) David's first stage appearance was at 11 in Cheaper By The Dozen in his home town of Three Rivers and there was no looking back. He performed with the Three Rivers Players and then with the Ionia Community Theater. He has been performing around Traverse City since 1990 with among others, the Old Town Playhouse, Berocratic Productions, The Cherry Capitol Men's Chorus and his a'capella quartet WindFall. You have seen him most recently as Mitch Mahoney in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, as Joe Sutter in The Spitfire Grill or as Costello Bear in the mash-up musical Grimm's Alternative Fairytales. David, and his wife Andrea, relocated to New York City so he could pursue his dreams of performing professionally. However, he wouldn't miss the opportunity to return and play with these dear friends (and family) again.
Liam Curtis (Ensemble)
Ben Eaton (Ensemble) Ben has been performing all his life, being no stranger to the stage he is thrilled, chilled , and fulfilled to be a part of Rocky!! You can catch Ben hosting many shows around Northern Michigan, including drag and burlesque shows at Sidetraxx. Ben is also a part of the Mash Up Rock and Roll Musical troupe in town. He would like to thank Mmmkay for all her support and love.
Elitza Nicolaou (Ensemble) is thrilled to rejoin the TC Rocky family. Her day job as the Operations Manager of Fishtown Preservation Society keeps her busy, but doesn't allow for nearly enough Time Warping or extraterrestrial travel, both of which she got a taste for while playing the Usherette in OTP's 2006 production of RHS. Since then, she's done a few shows in Lansing (Riverwalk Theatre's productions of Spring Awakening, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and Almost, Maine), trained for and run a marathon, moved eight times, and gotten married. When she isn't on stage, she can be found in the company of her husband, Chris, and their two neurotic cats.
